Hearts for Horses Success Stories

To date, H4H has rescued, retrained and placed 15 horses,

and Three More Horses are Available for Adoption Soon!

Gershwin, a Hannovarian Warmblood who didn't like being a jumper, came to H4H in December 2001.  It was love at first sight for he and Pattie H.  She found out he loves the trails.  Now they take long rides together in the California foothills. Gershwin shares Pattie and 40 acres with his pasturemates, Belle, Pony, another rescued mini donkey and several llamas.

Chester, a sweet,12-year old Quarter Horse gelding, came to H4H after bucking off his owner.  She had been told he was previously trained to buck for the movies and wanted to be sure he would not be mistreated in a new home. Chester has made a lot of progress at H4H.  But after eliminating every possible physical reason, he still has such a deep seated fear of being ridden that he has been retired at MMR so he can just be a horse.  But he loves to see visitors and be groomed.

Amos, another Thoroughbred, came to H4H in a very fearful state. He is now living with Kim & Steve Bolewine at On The Way Ranch in Copperopolis, CA. His days now consist of exploring 80 acres with his pasturemates.

Foxy, a beautiful 14-year old Quarer Horse mare, was the perfect match for Marrion.  Sadly, she later colicked badly and didn't make it through.  Our thoughts and prayers are with her and Marrion as we remember the light she brought to all our lives.

Sam, a young Throroughbred mare, had lots of confusion-based issues before coming to H4H. She is doing well and learning dressage with Stephanie.

Digger, a buckskin Quarter Horse gelding, has been retired at H4H due to intermittent health issues.  He currently oversees a small herd of mares in his own pasture.

Cherokee, a young off-the-racetrack Thoroughbred rescue, had to stand on sand for six months while his hooves grew back before he could even be worked with. Then he went into pasture to learn to be a horse.  During that time he went from a defensive biter to a happy playful gelding.  Evelyn adopted him in 2004.

Maya and Wings came to H4H after their mother passed away from cancer.  But she made sure her horses would always have a safe life together with H4H and Miracle Mountain Ranch's Old Hooves Home.

Prinz, a fully trained Warmblood gelding, was donated to H4H to find a good home. This sweet and willing boy has caught the eye of many beginners due in part to his calm attitude.  He is currently being leased by a prospective new partner, Jill.

Anna & Melanie adopted Lilly, a 5-year old Palomino Quarter Horse.  She happily resides with trail buddy Scotty and several other pasturemates at her new home in Castroville, CA.

Warmblood siblings Conrad and Kitty, joined the Hoffman family and a dozen other pasturemates in Pine Grove, CA.

Navigator, a Warmblood, had to be retired at H4H after he reinjured an old leg injury and could not be ridden.
