Debbie, has some wonderful insights about Julie's true passion that she wanted to share.

Did you ever have the feeling that you had found something so wonderful, that if you could tell the whole world about it, it would fix everything? That’s how I feel about Julie. If everyone brought their horses to Julie first, there would not be any confused, abused or misunderstood horses.

I found Julie by accident, and I am sure thankful that I did. If you read the remarks written by Julie’s students, the words used consistently are: understanding, patient, kind, encouraging, etc. I can't agree more; and that is for both the horse and the owner.

I have had the honor of being able to watch Julie work with these horses. It is almost as if she reads their minds.

Some horses come to her and need only a minor tune up. She works with the horse and owner to correct the problems, but she doesn’t just correct them and send you on your way. She makes you understand WHY! Why the horse is having this problem, what created it, how to stop it and how not to create new ones.

Then there are the horses that come to MMR because other trainer’s methods have not worked for them. She was working with such a horse the first time I had the great pleasure of seeing Julie perform her magic.

Have you ever seen a horse so afraid of being approached by a human being that its sides heaved like it was going to throw up? From what I saw, it was as though this horse was frozen. He stood there in agony, wanting to do what comes natural to a frightened animal, flee, but the cost of one step would be greater than the fear itself.

By the time Julie was finished with her first session with this horse, the audience that was watching had tears in their eyes. At the end of the hour, the horse faced Julie, moved to her and licked her hand. There were no more heaving sides or freezing in place, but soft eyes and relaxed body. The horse was completely trusting. All of this change was in one short hour!

This is just one of the many stories I could tell you about. The stories all begin and end the same, with a once frightened and confused horse that eventually gives Julie all they can because they trust and understand her.

I have always believed that we were put on this earth to learn. Whether we learn from experiences in past lives, whether we were human or animal, I’m not sure. However, I do believe we are supposed to learn from our experiences to become better people, and that some may have learned enough that they are here to teach others. If that is the case, then I know Julie was put here to teach us her unbelievable knowledge and understanding of horses!

For those of us who were lucky enough to find Julie, well...maybe we did something good in another life and the good Lord blessed us in this one.

Debbie
